Case Study 1:
Intensive Programme of work measurement of a
representative sample of 8 national distribution depots
to re-assess Standard Minute Values for all delivery
operations taken from the point of arrival in the
morning through to leaving in the evening. In excess of
70,000 observations were taken and an elemental list of
over 100 elements was developed. Findings were presented
by PSL Directors to Senior Management and Union
Officials and the Standards Database of National Values
is maintained by PSL. The work was supported with
training and appreciation deliveries to a number of
internal personnel, at all levels. Final delivery was
delivered using interactive presentations and discussion
groups.
Case Study 2:
A
comprehensive Industrial Engineering solution has been
realised through: Implementation and training in the
EASEWorks® system; MTM 2 training and on-site
mentoring; the recruitment of an experienced Industrial
Engineer and on-going support from PSL. SmartTime®
user.

Investigation into Processing and Warehousing
operations to provide solutions to problems with work
flow, bottlenecks and a perceived lack of warehouse
space. Findings were presented to senior management.
